Hello Darkness, My Old Friend | November/December 2017 Wrap-Up

I didn't forget to do a November wrap-up, but since I was so caught up in real life I didn't feel the desire to do one. So I'm basically combining November and December's wrap-ups to end the rest of the year.

About the Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer's permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

#T5W TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: Characters on the Naughty List

This is a new feature I joined called Goodreads' Top 5 Wednesdays, a weekly book group about our top five favorite things in the middle of the week.
Created by Lainey from GingerReadsLainey and now hosted by Samantha from ThoughtsonTomes, this week's entry describes the top 5 characters on the naughty list.

December 13th - Characters on the Naughty List
--These can be villains or just characters you don't like!
Keep in mind that these characters are not necessarily bad or evil, but more like annoying and insufferable and deserve to be on this list.

5. Valentine Morgenstern (Mortal Instruments/Shadowhunters) - Valentine counts as pure evil, but he also counts as just a stern guy who plays tricks and lies to his son(s) and daughter for his own personal gain. Clary and Jace could have gone several books without confusion, drama, and angst if it wasn't for Valentine lying to them to "keep the family together". Ridiculous!!

4. Peter Van Houten (The Fault in Our Stars) - Peter was an alcoholic, sloppy mess of an excuse of a man who pried on a young couple's affections and admirations on his book. And when he finally got them to come all the way to Amsterdam, he basically slapped them in the face. He tried coming back and explaining after Augustus' funeral, but too little, too late, jackass!!

3. Evelyn Johnson-Eaton (Insurgent/Allegiant) - Here's another annoying-ass character, Four's mother, Evelyn. I don't remember how she was in the books, but in the movies, she tried so hard to be the next Jeanine, without being Jeanine. Near the end of Allegiant, she got on my nerves even more when she had teamed up with Peter to activate the Pure's mind-wiping serum, without even knowing that the serum would do it to the whole city, and not just the Allegiant!! STUPID!! Four deserved a better mother.

2. President Snow (Hunger Games) - He was vile, rude, cocky, kinda like our "President" Donald Trump, but whiter.... if that makes sense lol.

1. Kiko's mom (Starfish) -
No one was more irritating, annoying, selfish, self-centered, racist, bigoted, cold-hearted than Kiko's mother in Starfish. Even if we didn't know much about her personally, the way she spoke to her Japanese-American daughter Kiko, and her brothers, and just dismissing her heritage and her culture, making her feel worthless and ruining her social anxiety... the whole experience in the book, if you haven't read it, is worth putting Kiko's mom in the top for the Naughty list!! She's a lot more than Naughty, but it's Christmas season, so I won't harp that much. I spoke more about her in my review, so read that if you want to hear more.

#BookBloggerHop (December 8-14): Reading Christmas-Themed Romances

Note: Let me just say how sorry I am for not posting for over two weeks! It's been really busy for me with my day job, blogging on other platforms, and starting my new internship at Entangled Publishing. I haven't had time to add posting here much, but I've found the time today! So without further ado, let's get into this week's Book Blogger Hop:

About the Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer's permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

This week's question submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books:

If you celebrate Christmas, do you feel the need to stop reading anything but Christmas-themed romances as the holiday season starts?

My Answer:

I just keep reading what I'm reading, because I'm so busy either working during the crazy holiday season, or shopping for gifts. I'll be lucky if I can finish the book in any capacity.

I ask this question back to you guys. Do you need to read Christmas themed books during the holiday season? Leave comments below!

.@XpressoTours Spotlight Tour: #EXPOSURE by @SylvieParizeau

Since I've only read some of book 1: Incandescently, my post will be a spotlight post instead of a full review on all three books.

Summary

Full description to come!
EXPOSURE – P.O.’s story.
Two truths. One lie.
I’m a computer geek studying at MIT.
I’m in two places at once.
My dream girl doesn’t know she knows me.

And your guess is as good as mine.

About the Author

A paralegal by day and incurable romantic by night, Sylvie is a cross-genre, and she takes Happily Ever After very seriously. The End just isn’t in her vocabulary.

An incorrigible daydreamer, she now feeds her obsession with epilogues by concocting stories in which heroes deal with the happy from the get-go. Ready, or not. And she confesses under oath to loving every minute of it.

Sylvie lives her own Happily Ever After in the beautiful mountains of Les Laurentides in Northern Quebec, alongside her whole set of characters.

In between treks in their backyard wilderness, you can find them hanging out at www.sylvieparizeau.com

I don't really read Christmas-themed books. I mostly just read based on preference. I do try to read during the holidays, though.
