Mid-Year Freak-Out Book Tag 2019!

(This is a display photo for the featured slider on my home page. That's why it's blank.)

Before we get into this new post, I just want to say how incredibly thankful to each and every one of you whom had given me advice on my previous post. I really needed the encouragement to know that I can do this and I am interesting enough. Not just for you but for myself too. I've been feeling really down on my luck recently and needed to get all of that off my chest, and your guys' encouragement and advice really helped me. So thank you! I love you guys!

So with that being said, I decided to try something different and do a new book tag! I haven’t done one of these in awhile, so it’ll be good to bring these back. It’s conveniently called the Mid-Year Freak-Out Tag, which works because I freak out about everything.

I don't know who had originally came up with this tag, but I'd seen it on Jess @ crowingaboutbooks' page, so I'll stick with that reference.

Also I know I probably should have done this in June, but oh well! 🤣

Best Book You’ve Read So Far
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. I’ve obviously read better than John Green, but given that this was the first read of 2019 that I didn’t give up on right away, I’ll say that it’s the best so far. That could change, but that’s how I feel now.

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To
I'm terrible with keeping up with new releases, but one I've been hearing about is Girl Gone Viral by

Biggest Disappointment
I'll have to say Again, But Better by Christine Riccio. Even though I gave the book 3 stars and I enjoyed the book overall, I now realized how much of a struggle it took for me to fully enjoy the reading. I went into a pretty lengthy review on the blog back in May, so if you want to check it out you can. But overall, I feel like if the delivery and execution of the storytelling was a lot stronger, then I would have enjoyed it more.

Favorite Blog Post Written This Year
I think it's a tie between my posts Am I Uninteresting Blogger? and Why I Don't Have a Review Policy. I've realized that everytime I have a breakthrough or breakdown on this channel, I have to write it down. Or else I'll let the moment pass and I'll feel even worse about it. But what's even better is realizing that so many of you guys feelsimilar ways to me; it makes me feel less alone all of the time. Also, I get some good advice from you guys on what to do with these thoughts I've had building inside of me for however long. So again, thanks for caring and reading.

There were some other prompts left in this tag, but I decided to skip those because I didn't know which books to choose for them. But I still hope you enjoyed my book tag!

I'm tagging everyone who hasn't done this tag yet! Comment your books below!

Thanks for reading!

Am I an Uninteresting Blogger? // DISCUSSION

Hey guys!! I know I’ve been kinda radio-silent lately and I promise I’m not dead. Or dying. Or sick. I’m literally stressed; both with my job and my personal life.

At times, I’m grateful to still even have a job, with all of the rapid turnouts and some of my coworkers leaving the company. I don’t want to snitch on anyone, given they might find me here lol, but I’ll just say I’m waiting for the next opportunity to come up. I’m even willing to travel to NY or somewhere else entirely because I’m so tired of being taken advantage of where I’m at. Even without a car, license or permit. Although I’m still working on that. But anyway, when I come home, I don’t want to write, read or even blog-hop. I just want to sleep!! And maybe eat because during my lunch break is the only time I get a bite or two.

But, you guys didn’t click on this link to hear me bitch and moan about my job. To be honest, I think I’ve slipped back into disinterest when it comes to this blog. It had hit me when I’d started losing followers on my MAILCHIMP email list. It’d went from 2 to 5 in less than a week, so before I could lose anymore, I deleted the whole mailing list so I wouldn’t be disappointed anymore.

However maybe it’s a sign. Am I an uninteresting blogger? Am I not creative or funny or intelligent enough? What am I doing wrong? What am I not doing? Should I start from scratch again? Should I get a co-writer? Like, what do I do??

I never really used to care about how others thought about me, as long as I had something important to say. However now, it feels like I’ve run out of topics to write about, and how I want those topics to be discussed.

To be honest I never thought I’d still have this blog. I thought it’d be just a moment in time and I’ve made so many friends and connections with it. But now I’m at yet another standstill on what to do with it.

I don’t want to seem desperate and ask what would you guys would like me to write about. But if you could be dears and throw some ideas around (instead of memes and prompts) that’d be cool. It’d seem less like a job and more like a community between bookish people.

Let me know your thoughts below! Comment below!

More than a Father // #IHEARTCHARACTERSMEME

I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger love for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love. ♡
This week's prompt:  More Than a Father (In tribute to Father’s day, a character that is a mentor to a younger person. It could be an uncle, a boss, a friend, but they supply mental support to another character.)

Authors I'd Like to Write Like // TOP 5 WEDNESDAY (November 2017)

Sam from Thoughts on Tomes has decided to take a hiatus for this summer (June, July, August). Read her note below:

Hello all! I’ve decided to put Top 5 Wednesday on hiatus for the summer (June, July, August). I’ve been going back and forth about this for some time, but I haven’t really been inspired for T5W lately, and I’m hoping a break from hosting and creating topics will breathe some enjoyment back into it for me.

In the meantime, there are YEARS of prompts listed here for you all to explore, complete for the first time if you are new, or revisit again if you’ve done them before in past years so please, still enjoy!

Happy reading xo
While I am sad that there won't be any new T5W posts this summer, I'll be sure to find some topics to talk about that I haven't discussed in the past.

For those who don't know what Top 5 Wednesday is, it's a weekly book group about our top five favorite things in the middle of the week.

Created by Lainey from GingerReadsLainey and now hosted by Samantha from ThoughtsonTomes, this week's entry describes authors I want to write like (November 29, 2017):
November 29th: Authors You'd Want to Write Like
--In honor of NaNo wrapping up, discuss some authors you'd like to write like. Whether it's their writing style, what genre they write in, or how many books they manage to churn out a year!

I actually did a topic like this back in November 2017, with different authors, so this time I'll add in new writers, as well.

One-Sentence Reviews // May 2019

Here is another addition from my One-Sentence Reviews segment for May 2019. This is to compartmentalize and arrange all of the books I read this month in a shortened time frame.
